The Rural Arts Network is about building communities of culture through the medium of arts. Rural arts network seeks to empower and support communities to host and promote arts and cultural events. Community based arts networks have already been established in South Tipperary, South Kerry, West Wicklow and South East Laois and over 200 arts events have been organised by these groups with a combined attendance of over 12,000 people. These networks are made up of individuals who are interested in the whole area of art and culture and care about their communities, drawn from a number of neighbouring communities giving them greater opportunities to attract audiences, to find suitable venues for events and to attract support from funding agencies.
